An Interview with Tess

Tess loves hot sauce & Laksa, eats soup for lunch almost every day, used to be an Irish dance champion and once rescued a kitten in Shanghai.

This week, we caught up with Tess to find out more about her role here at KMG.

Hey Tess, could you explain a little more about your position as Account Director at KMG?
As the Account Director at KMG, I look after our flagship clients to ensure their campaigns are performing and that they receive the highest quality service from me and my team.

Describe a typical working day for you as Account Director at KMG?
My typical day involves drinking lots of coffee! I speak to clients to understand their businesses and to be their voice within KMG so that everyone understands their real life and business needs. I use my knowledge to ensure that our KMG campaign performance and client services teams are in sync and working towards meeting the client’s goals. I am also the leader of the account management team so I mentor the other AM’s.

What made you go into digital marketing?
It was actually by chance. I studied Marketing Management at university and post graduating I found an internship and was placed at a digital marketing agency in Shanghai which sparked my interest.

Why do you like being an Account Manager?
I enjoy connecting with people and feeling like I’ve made a difference to their business. I get to understand and work with such a vast range of people from all types of businesses and I get to build relationships with them too.

What has been your favourite moment working at KMG?
It’s really hard to think of just one! Probably, seeing our new office for the first time or winning the ‘Top Performing Agency in the UK and Ireland.’ Both were very humbling moments.

What is the biggest challenge of being an Account Director?
Trying to not get too emotionally involved in my accounts and people’s lives.

What are you excited about in digital at the moment?
I am excited about Google Audiences – they are rolling out updates which make targeting potential customers possible at a highly granular level.

If you didn’t work in digital, where would you work?
Probably in Facial Aesthetics, spending so much time with my clients has really rubbed off on me!

Where do you see KMG in 5/10 years?
I see us being the UK’s largest digital agency and international expansion.

What do you do in your free time?
Drink Wine! Go to concerts, travel and exercise.

Give us an interesting fact about one of your colleagues.
Tom, one of our digital consultants, produces Trance music.

And Finally, in 3 words, how would your friends and family describe you?
Excitable, friendly and easy going.
