This month Google Ads have extended their text Ad formatting again, giving advertisers more space than ever before on the search engine results page (SERP). How generous of Google!
This is great news that will see increased CTR as the opportunity to add further value to your advertising message grows. These improved extended text ads allow us to write a third headline and a second description. Gone are the days of trying to abbreviate and fit so much into the limited characters available.
You can see this on our example mock up below using our own Agency to create an Ad example. A third headline allows you to advertise another USP and gives 30 extra characters to play with that we didn’t have before. We also have 90 characters of description available. KMG have been early adopters of this advanced Ad type and it is implemented across all of our client accounts as standard. This is best practise in the industry and allows for a greater creative scope.
Notice that the third headline is labelled as NEW below and so is the second description. As well as this, the release of the Responsive text Ad BETA means that our agency team can set up as many as 15 Ad text variations to test the best performing results and optimise using automated ad rotation.
Benefits from Google
“Responsive search ads can help you:
- Create flexible ads that adapt to device widths, giving you more room to share your message with potential customers.
- Provide multiple headline and description options, and let Google Ads show the most relevant combinations to your customers.
- Reach more potential customers with multiple headline and description options that give your ads the opportunity to compete in more auctions and match more queries.
- Increase ad group performance by attracting additional clicks and conversions that your existing text ads aren’t capturing, since responsive search ads help you compete in more auctions.”
So that’s what we have been excited about in the Google Ads space this month. The capability to extend our reach by enhancing the quality and quantity of our Ad format.
