Meet Ben, KMG's Operations Director. He loves Nandos and all things Sport related. He has a chronically achy back but manages to be the best at Ping Pong in the whole office by a country mile.
Could you explain a little more about your position as Operations Director at KMG?
I support the sales team on new business but my primary focus is managing post sale service and the team that manages the campaigns and their performance.
Describe a typical working day for you as Operations Director at KMG?
Checking all clients are happy and that all campaigns are performing well. I train the team on how to improve campaigns and client relationship management. The rest of the time is spent in between pitching for new business and client meetings.
What made you go into digital marketing?
Luck – I have always been passionate about marketing and consumer buyer behaviour and I wanted to go into an industry that could influence those things that was also heavily weighted towards data and analytics. I have a mathematical and analytical educational background.
Why do you like being Operations Director?
I like being able to influence the direction of the company, being a part of the sales function so that I can help the growth of the business. I like being a part of the services function as it means I get to interact with many of the clients and build long lasting relationships. I also get to build relationships internally with every person in the business.
What has been your favourite moment working at KMG?
The company surpassed 20 employees and hit 5 million in revenue in the same month. That was a good month.
What is the biggest challenge of being an Operations Director?
There's not enough hours in the week!
What are you excited about in digital at the moment?
Video – The advancement in video advertising and the move towards campaigns that stimulate engagement and ultimately ROAS.
If you didn’t work in digital, where would you work?
Playing poker professionally in a casino.
Where do you see KMG in 10 years?
Given my previous answer, maybe having 100 + employees and celebrating 100 million in revenue for the first time in the same month. That would be fantastic.
What do you do in your free time?
Buy sneakers, play squash and play poker.
